“Assessment of the Primary Stability for implants inserted by CBCT-Guided Stereolithographic Templates using a Partially limiting design versus Completely limiting designs in the posterior mandible: Clinical Study”

Khaled Taymour Khourshid;

Abstract

In our study assessment of the primary stability for implants inserted by CBCT-Guided stereolithographic templates using a Partially limiting design compared to completely limiting designs in the posterior mandible in a split mouth clinical study.
Fourteen implants were placed in three patients, two males and one female. In the study, the right side was group A (partial limiting design) and left side was group B (completely limiting design). In group A, the right side had only the drilling through the stereolithographic guide sleeves (universal sleeves), where in the Group B side, the left side both the drilling and implant placement was through the specific sleeves in the stereolithographic guide.
The aim of this study is to assess the primary stability of implants inserted by CBCT-guided stereolithographic templates using a partially limiting vs completely limiting design in posterior mandible.
Once the implant were placed, a smart peg was attached to the implant and made to vibrate using the osstell prob to find the resonance frequency. Frequency Analysis are used to determine implant stability. The result is presented in the osstell as an Implant Stability Quotient value of 1-100. The higher the ISQ, the more stable the implant. The readings were taken for each implant at four direction, buccally lingually, mesially, and distally.
The mean of the primary stability measured for Group A was 66 ISQ and for Group B was 68 ISQ. Although the results were statistically insignificant, the completely limiting designs showed slightly higher ISQ value and better primary stability.
