“Clinical and Radiographic Evaluation of two Different Macro Designs Zirconia Root Form Implants”

Mohammed Abd-Alrahman AL-Sammarraie;

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate retention of two different designs of zirconia root form implant (round and oval surface macro retention), and effect of zirconia on marginal peri-implant soft tissue, bone density and bone height of the root form zirconia implant after 6 months of implantation. 20 zirconia root form implants have been specifically tailored for 20 distinct patients; after a radiographic examination using CBCT to obtain three dimensional of tooth. The technology outlined in this study is a combination of true anatomical implant replica of the patient's un-restorable tooth and the use of a new biomaterial-zirconia after being modified by the addition of macro-retention using computer‐aided design/computer‐aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software and finally milled, surface treatment and sterilized prior to implantation. The study was minimally invasive with respects the underlying anatomy, and enhanced esthetic results, were also time-and cost-effective.
