Abstract

Overactive Bladder is a Syndrome characterized by urinary urgency, with or without urgency urinary incontinence, usually with increased micturation frequency during the day and at night (ie, nocturia). (OAB) IS A prevalent condition that affect both female and male patients and more common in old patients, Overactive bladder symptoms are often attributed to detrusor over activity, a condition characterized by involuntary detrusor contractions during bladder filling. (OAB) is a common multifactorial health disorder that is associated with detrimental effects on quality of life and a considerable economic burden.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is one of the most common conditions affecting middle aged men. This condition can be symptomatic and characterized by irritative or obstructive symptoms. up to 15% to 25% of men aged 50-60 years have lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS).
In elderly patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, α1-adrenergic receptor blocker significantly improves LUTS, especially voiding dysfunction on the IPSS. However, some patients may remain suffering from storage symptoms such as urgency and frequency and nocturia. For these patients, some studies have suggested that combination therapy with an α1-adrenergic receptor blocker and anti-muscarinic drug is effective.
