IMPROVING PRODUCTIVITY AND IMMUNE RESPONSE OF BROILER CHICKENS UNDER HOT ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS BY USING NON SPECIFIC METHODS

MOHAMED KHAIRY MOHAMED HASHIM;

Abstract

This experiment was carried out at Poultry Breeding Farm, Poultry
Production Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University.
This study was designed to study the effect of Fenugreek seeds and
Camphor leaves on productive performance and immune response of
Ross broiler strain. Some measurements taken to measuring the
productive performance such as (body weight, body weight gain, carcass
characteristics) and immune response traits such as (body lymphoid
organs percentage, PHA-P injection "In vivo cell-mediated immunity
assay" and antibody response against SRBCs).

The main results could summarize as follows:
1. Productive performance
1.1. Body weight
 Individuals which fed on (Camphor 2) showed increase in body
weight at 4 week (1351.73 g) compared to other traits.
 (Fen1 & Fen2) traits recorded non-significant increase in body
weight (1628.55 & 1631.25 g) respectively, compared to other
traits.
 The (Fen2) trait considered the best trait between traits during most
of ages.
1.2. Body weight gain
 Fen1 and Fen2 group recorded a higher significant value followed
by control group than traits which fed on dietary containing camphor.

1.3. Carcass measurements
1.3.1. Edible parts
 Dressing percentage of broilers at 6 week was significantly
higher value for Cph1 group (75.14%) than control (73.20%) and
other groups.
