The Effect of Post Milling Processing on Translucency of Zirconia Reinforced Lithium Silicate

Manal Munir Abduljaleel;

Abstract

Zirconia- reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS) Celtra Duo (DENTSPLY) is a new generation of high strength glass ceramic material which is a (10% by weight) zirconia added to glass ceramic material to combine high flexural strength of zirconia and high esthetic property of the glassy content resulting in a beautiful natural looking restoration.
Also Celtra Duo has a unique property, it can be processed with two different ways, either milled and polished or milled and fired.
Translucency is one of the important factors of highly esthetic restoration. So it is important to study the things which might increase or decreasing it. Translucency of a material depends on the transmission of light which controlled by several factors as the microstructure and the thickness and processing technique of the material.
So in this study, we are trying to compare the effect of different processing technique (glazing and polishing) of ZLs (Celtra Duo) on translucency, and to find the effect of thickness on the translucency of the material. This is done by using A1(Ht) shade with different thicknesses (0.4mm, 0.7mm, 1.0mm) of Celtra Duo using spectrophotometeric analysis before and after processing (glazing and polishing).
