GROWTH PATTERN IN CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE

Abstract
Both growth pattern of children with congenital heart disease and serum GH levels before and after provocation test with insulin were assessed in this work. This was done to evaluate the problem of growth retardation in these patients and identify its nature and the possible role of GH. Forty-four cases were included in this work, they were divided into two main groups:
A) Patients group ': (30 patients).
This group was divided into :
1) Congenital acyanotic heart disease group : 24 patients.
2) Congenital cyanotic heart disease group: 6 patients.
]J Control group:•
14 healthy children age and sex matched were included.•
The diagnosis were based upon proper history, clinical examination and investigations.
All cases were subjected to the following:
A) Anthropometric measurements: including measurements
•of weight, height, head circumference and midarm
