Abstract
Endoscopic management, with the passage of time, has showe1:1 itsel

I
types of bile duct problems. 1
!
This study was performed attempting to evaluates the endoscopic!
management of CBD stones and the outcome of patients following !
i
removal of common bile duct stones as regard the success rate, failure rate,1
complications and mortality.
I
This study was performed on 107 patients with clinkal, biochemical i
and radiological evidence of CBD stones, the patients were 18 males and i
I
- i
89 females, thier ages ranged from 24 years to 75 years with a mean age ofi
'
45 years.
In our study we used E.R.C.P diagnostic and therapeutic, inspite of!
.that many authers stated that the use of ERCP should restricted to \ therapeutic applications only, however, ERCP is still widely used as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool particularly when treatment• is required
immediatly after diagnosis.

In this study the cannulation of CBD success rate was 97.1%. This
higher rate of cannulation of CBD is explained by the use and availability of different technical options of cannulation, these options includes the use of different catheters, guide wire technique and occasionaly the use of both
sphincterotome as a catheter or the needle-Knife.
Needle-knife sphincterotomy is a valuable technique that makes it possible to overcome problems of bile duct cannulation in selected cases.
