Abstract


• Hypertension is a serious treatable disease with cardiovascular, cerebral and peripheral vascular complications.
• Vaspin play an important role in protection against development of atherosclerosis and hypertension.
• Vaspin levels affect hypertensive patients and their prognosis and play a great role in cardiovascular and cerebral complications.
• Our study demonstrated that Vaspin levels are high in healthy individuals, start to decrease in hypertensive patients and drive more decline as hypertension progress, to the lowest levels in complicated hypertensive patients.
• Our results in this study revealed a negative correlation between age and serum vaspin level.
• In our study there was no differences in serum vaspin levels between males and females.
• Cardiovascular events are the most common complications among hypertensive patients especially uncontrolled ones.
