Hassan Amr Kamel;

Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare efficacy of photoactivated disinfection (PAD) using Diode laser versus Double antibiotic paste (DAP) on regeneration of immature infected teeth.
This clinical study included 24 patient divided into 3 groups, 8 patients in each group. Group A were treated by DAP for disinfection, group B were treated by PAD for disinfection and group C were treated by DAP and PAD for disinfection. Three weeks later we started induction of bleeding into disinfected canals of the three groups, then MTA coronal plug placed at orifice of the canals for seal. Finally clinical and radiographic evaluation for all the groups for a period up to 12 months.
Clinical evaluation included history taking and clinical examination regarding presence or absence of periapical pain, swelling or sinus tract.
Clinical follow up showed that all cases were asymptomatic, functional, and irresponsive to hot test throughout the follow up period. Some cases experienced mild pain or discomfort for few days postoperatively.
Radiographic evaluation included measurement of change in root length, thickness and apical diameter of standardized radiographs. Data were collected and tabulated for statistical analysis.
