Psychosocial Problems among Adolescents Associated with Conduct Disorders

Marwa Belal Hassan;

Abstract

Conduct disorder (CD) is mental disorder characterized by repetitive and persistent aggressive or nonaggressive behavior in which basic rights of others or social norms are violated. Self –esteem is generally low, and an inability to develop social relationships and lack of concern for others may not be present (ICD-10, 2018).
Adolescents with conduct problems often have difficulties forming and maintaining positive relationships with their peers. A number of studies have documented a causal role of peer rejection along with aggressive adolescent behavior in prediction of later psychosocial problems (Dalwani et al., 2015). Aggressive adolescents rejected by their peers, are at particular risk for developing a range of conduct problems throughout adolescent hood and adolescence, while peer-acceptance seems to counteract a negative development in adolescent with aggression (Koirala, Subba & Lopchan 2017).
