Physical and Biological Evaluation of Light Cured Versus Chemically Cured Tricalcium Silicate Cements: An in Vitro Study

Rana Mamdouh Sayed Ahmed;

Abstract

Aim of the study
This in-vitro study was conducted to evaluate Theracal Lc™ (polymer based calcium silicate cement) in comparison to Biodentine™ (hydraulic calcium silicate cement) regarding:

1- The solubility of each material after soaking in deionized water for 1,7,28 days, 3 and 6 months.

2- The water sorption of each material after soaking in deionized water for 1,7,28 days, 3 and 6 months.

3- The amount of calcium ions releasing after storage in deionized water for 1,7,28 days, 3 and 6 months.

4- The pH of the soaking solution after storage in deionized water for 1,7,28 days, 3 and 6 months.

5- The apatite forming ability when immersed in body simulated fluids after storage and scanning the surfaces at 1,7,28 days, 3 and 6 months.
