STUDY OF SERUM LIPID PROFILE IN THE APPARENTLY HEALTHY FARMERS OF MENOFIA GOVERNORATE

Abstract

Four hundred and eighteen Fanners of Menofia Governorate with age ranged between 35-85 years, passed history, clinical examination and testing ECG. Blood sample were taken after 12-14 hotirs fasting and examined for:- - Fasting blood sugar.

-Fasting Total cholesterol.

- Fasting Triglycerides

-LDL

-HDL

- Serum uric acid.

• The aim of this work was studying the pattern of lipid lipogram in fanners of Menofia Governorats.

• Mean age was 50.1 years.

• Mean Setuin cholesterol, LDL, HDL, ttiglycerides were 163 mg/dl, 93 mg/dl, 47.7 trig/dl and 145 mg/dl respectively.

" Prevalence of hypercholesterolemia, Hypertriglyceredemia and low HDL were 10%,27.6% and 35% respectively.

•.Total Cholesterol, TG, LDL serliin levels were high in diabetics than non diabetics, while HDL serum level was less than non diabetics.

• Irt hypertensive patients T-C , TG , LDL serum levels were higher than normotensive persons , while HDL-C were less in hypertensive patients.

• HDL-C in smokers were less than non smokers, while TC,TG, LDL were same in both groups of individuals.

• Lipid profile increase with age but it is not statistically significant.

• The results of this study show that the fanners had good and desirable lipid lipogram in comparable with other Egyptian classes and Foreigner populations. They have less serum cholesterol less LDL, high HDL and similar TG .
