Performative topological forms based on parametric application in architecture

Abstract


Recently in architecture, the need for rapid automatic exploration of design solutions that respond to complex design requirements through coded systems using computation techniques led to the inception of what is called Parametric Design. It facilities the process of performance based design to integrate performance evaluation of a certain design requirement with optimization techniques to choose near optimum solutions and neglect the bad ones in early design phases.
The main objective of this thesis is to investigate Parametric Design capabilities to be incorporated in the conceptual design phase, and finding a design methodology to generate a topological form and enhancing performance in buildings. This can be achieved through, first clarifying Parametric Design capabilities and illustrate parametric design process which consists of four steps connected during conceptual design phase; Parametrization, Generation, Evaluation and Optimization, second defining topological forms, study its properties and how to generate it, third analyze opportunities for enhancing Performance in building, then find a strategy using parametric design to generate a topological form based required performance via analyze some project and integrate the two methodologies Which allows us to explore our creativity & reduce time and cost control while improving design performance.
