Using Rice Husk Ash in Hot Asphalt Concrete Mixes
Mohamed Mohiey Eldien Helal Ibrahim;
Abstract
The first phase of this study is reviewing the literature about the use of rice husk ash in asphalt mixtures. Also, producing, chemical and physical properties of the used materials. Then selection of familiar aggregate and bitumen for study.
Second phase was laboratory works, in this phase many tests were performed on asphalt binder, aggregate and performance tests on different mixtures. Asphalt binder was tested for penetration grade, softening point, flash point and rotational viscosity. Aggregates were tested for a set of validation test, these tests were Los Angeles abrasion test, absorption test and specific gravity test. Rice husk ash (RHA) was tested for specific gravity. Chemical composition and XRD were determined for RHA.
