Recent Techniques in Varicocele Embolization

Mina Emil Edward;

Abstract

Percutaneous embolization for treatment of the internal spermatic vein is a minimally invasive procedure done in outpatient basis with has high technical success rates, and very low morbidity and with minimal radiation. It shows to be equal to surgical ligation in clinical results and as or more cost effective. Its minimally invasive technique allows it be well more tolerated with the advantage of shorter recovery times and less discomfort when compared to surgery. Embolization should be offered as an alternative to surgery specially when efficient skilled doctors are available for varicocele treatment.
