Abstract

Since World War II. a variety of new management methods and tools have been developed through Operat­ ions Research to help in solving the complex managem- ent problems. Among these tools, PERT technique .which is begining to stand out as one of the most valuable and promising. techniques. This technique represents a successful procedure for planning and controling pro- ject execution which are considered the mo t.irnportant ftmctions of management. Thus,because of the easiness and wide spread ;n

applying this technique, it is necessary to conduct some researches and studies for the purposes' of out- lining the limits and value of bias which may yield in the given results or to attempts to make some am- endments to obtain less biased resu;tts. These studies enable management to recognize the reasons of the de- viation of the actual• results from those predetermined by PERT technique. In addition,they may enable manage­ ment to apply more accurate techniques which yieldl biased results.
