EVALUATION OF IMPOTENT MALES USING THE POWER DOPPLER SONOGRAPHV WITH ASSESSMENT OF PENILE NITRIC OXIDE
Mohamed Talaat Mohy EI-Dean;
Abstract
This study has attempted to evaluate the role of Power Doppler- Sonography (PDS) in the evaluation of patient with suspected vascular erectile dysfunctions together with estimation of cavernous •blood nitric oxide synthase activity which is an important enzyme needed for penile erection.
This study included 60 patients who were subjected to the following:
• Thorough history taking.
• Physical examination..
• Intracorporeal injection (ICI) of vasoactive drugs.
• Power Doppler Sonography (PDS) examination for all patients.
• Determination of cavernous blood nitric oxide synthase
(NOS) activity.
According to PDS results the patients were classified into 4 groups:
Group 1: Out of 60 impotent patient, 20 patients were of arterial (5), arteriolar (2) and combined arterial and arteriolar impotence (13) revealed by PDS.
