HAZARDOUS EFFECTS OF PASSIVE SMOkING ON RESPIRATORY DISEASES

Abstract


This study was conducted to evaluate the hazards of passive smoking on the respiratory system and its influence in the development of many of chest problems. It was suggesting that passive and active smoking play an important rule in subsequent development of several chest diseases. The type and severity of the disease are greatly associated with the degree of exposure to environmental tobacco smoke. Frequency, severity of the asthmatic attacks and the degree of the respiratory function impairment are significantly correlated to the degree of exposure and also there is a positive correlation between degree of exposure and the type of chest problem, we found that asthmatic attacks developed in mild and moderate exposure while COPD and lung cancer developed in severe exposure also the type of lung cancer is influenced by the degree of exposure.
