Abstract


The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of first level managers' leadership behaviors on nurses' job satisfaction and productivity in differenthealth care sectors in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Menoufiya Governorate. The research design is a non-experimental descriptive correlational design or ex post facto design. The main purpose of ex post facto research design is to understand relationships among phenomena as they naturally occur, without any intervention from the researcher. Transformational leadership theory was used as the conceptual framework for this study.
Data were collected from three different hospitals at Shebien El Kom, Menoufiya Governorate, Egypt. Shebien El Kom Teaching Hospital, Menoufiya University Hospital, and the Red Crescent Hospital. The total sample of this study is 126 subjects. There are
30 first level managers, 90 staff nurses, and 6 directors (hospital directors and nursing directors). In ordertQ answer the research questions of this study, several instruments were selected.
There were five instruments used to carry out this study. The first instrument is the modified Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire form XII (LBDQ-XII), the second instrument derived from previously modified instrument, is a checklist, which
