Child's health in Egypt: Current status

mohamed, elkholy;

Abstract

Assuring the quality of the childhood years is a challenge, more so in a developing country. In Egypt, considerable advances have been made in a number of fields through the implementation of vertical national programmes such as the National Control for Diarrheal Disease Program, the Expanded Program of Immunization, the Acute Respiratory Disease Program and, most recently, the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness Program. While great advances have been made in the control of childhood diseases, such as immunizable diseases, malnutrition and diarrhoeas, the incidence of other diseases as type1 diabetes and hepatitis C virus seroprevalence is rising.
