Abstract

Thiadiazole derivatives were synthesized with 4-bromophenyl acetic acid which was reacted under acylation, sulphonation and coupling reaction. Elemental analysis, IR, 1HNMR, 13C-NMR and mass spectral data confirmed the structure of the newly synthesized compounds. The derivatives of these moieties were evaluated for antimicrobial activity. Most of the synthesized compounds showed good antimicrobial activity at 200 and 100 μg/mL. Compounds showed most significant antibacterial activity against gram negative bacteria viz. Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsella pneumonia, Salmonella typhii and one gram-positive bacteria viz Staphylococcus aureus.
