A PFM-regulated switched-capacitor DC-DC converter with enhanced-ripples technique

Abstract
This paper presents an all-digital switched-capacitor DC-DC converter with an Enhanced Ripples Technique (ERT) which enhances the ripples values by a factor of up to 2.5X without affecting the efficiency. The SC converter converts the battery voltage (3.6 V nominally) into an output voltage of 1V. The SC converter is implemented in 0.13 μm CMOS technology using thick oxide I/O devices and achieves a maximum efficiency of 71%. The SC converter regulates up to 12 mA load current using PFM technique. Output voltage ripples is less than 50 mV.
