Abstract
The corrosion inhibition effect of L-arginine has been used as corrosion inhibitor for steel in 3.5 % NaCl. In this study, electrochemical frequency modulation, EFM was usedas an effective method for corrosion rate determination. In EFM measurments, corrosion current density was determined without prior knowledge of Tafel slopes. Corrosion rates obtained using EFM, were compared to that obtained from other chemical and electrochemical techniques. Data obtained from chemical and electrochemical measurements were in good agreement with the results obtained from EFM. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been used to investigate the adsorption of L-arginine molecule on steel surface © 2013 by ESG.
