Fourier Optics, Laser Speckle Imaging, and Cascaded Interferometers

Hamed, Abdallah;

Abstract

This book is considered useful for undergraduate and graduate students of optical engineering and computer science. The information is basically dependent upon the Fourier transformations and convolution operations treated in the Pioneer textbook of J.W. Goodman “Introduction to Fourier optics and holography.
The 1st part summarizes some basic transformation and convolution operations used in Fourier optics presented to compute the diffraction of some famous objects presented in chapter 1. Then, five chapters are given based on the above techniques of Fourier Optics. Diffraction of Corona Virus images using Fourier optics is investigated in chapter 2. The design of a Cascaded Black–Linear Distribution aperture is given and its PSF is computed and applied on Erythrocytes blood cells as in chapter 3. Diffraction of some modulated apertures using Operator Algebra with laser beam illumination is outlined in chapter 4. Chapters 5, 6 discussed the formation of speckle images using microscopic images and diffusers. In chapter 7, the image of the Ramses II Statue is processed using speckle photography modulated by a new Hamming- Linear aperture.
