The Point Spread Function for some modulated apertures (Application on speckle and interferometry images)

Hamed, Abdallah;

Abstract

This book is written by making use of Fourier optics techniques and applied on a confocal laser scanning microscope. The concept of the Point Spread function or the amplitude impulse response is investigated for many different apertures in order to gain better resolution and compared with circular and annular apertures. The book is divided into three parts. In the 1st part, linear, quadratic, and higher-order apertures are considered in chapters 1, 2, and 3. In addition, a combination of linear- quadratic aperture and Hamming apertures are investigated in chapters 4 and 5. The PSF is discussed in all considered apertures. In the 2nd part, three different applications on speckle imaging are considered. In chapter 6, Discrimination between speckle images is justified using deformed diffused apertures. In chapters 7, 8 the different speckle images occur from the multiplication of the diffuser and the linear, quadratic, and higher-order apertures. In the 3rd part, Interferometric images and speckles were obtained using some medical images. In chapter 9, Discrimination between normal and diseased stomachs using speckle techniques provided with the modulated apertures. In addition, in chapters 10, 11, SIDA Virus (HIV) and Corona Virus images are investigated using interferometry and speckle techniques.
The Mat-Lab codes are constructed to compute the PSF for all the deformed and modulated apertures and to build on the processed images considering the confocal laser scanning microscope.
