Abstract

The Tongue between Freedom of Speech and Bonds of Silence in Ancient Greek Tragedy

There is no doubt that the tongue has a dramatic role in ancient greek tragedy, as a driving force of the dramatic events. Just as there are motives for the tongue to speak, there are also restrictions tie the tongue and prevent it from talking. And therefore this paper discusses the conditions that affect the tongue, whether political, economic or social or psychological circumstances; where there are contradictions in life was put tongue between freedom of speech and slavery of silence, such as: wealth and poverty, justice and injustice, freedom and slavery, safety and fear, strength and weakness, honor and shame, courage and cowardice, recklessness and moderation, knowledge and ignorance. One of the requirements of this research to discuss a greek expressions that shed light on the freedom of the tongue in words and it’s bondage in silence. لاشك أن اللسان له دور درامي في التراجيديا اليونانية، حيث يعد، في صمته وكلامه، قوة محركة للأحداث الدرامية. ومثلما يكون هناك دوافع لانطلاق اللسان في الكلام، يكون هناك قيود أيضا تغل اللسان وتمنعه من الكلام. ومن ثم سيتم في هذا البحث مناقشة الظروف التي تؤثر على اللسان سواء كانت هذه الظروف سياسية أو اقتصادية أو اجتماعية أو نفسية، حيث يوجد متناقضات في الحياة تضع اللسان بين حرية الكلمة وقيود الصمت مثل: الثراء والفقر، العدالة والظلم ، الحرية والعبودية، الأمان والخوف، المرض والعجز، القوة والضعف، العار والشرف، الجرأة والجبن، التهور والاعتدال، المعرفة والجهل، الشجاعة والجبن. ومن مقتضيات هذا البحث مناقشة المصطلحات اليونانية المعبرة عن اللسان وتعبيراته وحرية الكلمة وقيود الصمت. ومن ثم ستكون الدراسة درامية نفسية لغوية.
