Abstract

Women's Violence against Men between Smoothness of the Word and Cruelty of the Act in Euripides’ Theatre It is usual to read a multiple researches which discuss the subject of men’s violence against women, but we rarely read about women's violence against men, and so it is the motive of this research. This paper shows that woman like any human being, when she is exposed to humiliation, persecution or emotional wound from the man, she may behave cruelly and violently, turning into a monster wants revenge by any means. The paper discusses this topic by analyzing some female characters in Euripides’ tragedies, which were committing violence against men such as: Hecuba against Polymestor, Medea against Jason and Phaedra against Hippolytus. This study also focuses on the psychological motives that may lead woman to be a monster commits physical or psychological violence against the man, using her natural means such as: attractive femininity, soft words and her professionalism to exploit the weakness points of men. Euripides, in his tragedies, may aim to warn the man exploit the woman’s vulnerability and femininity, thinking that she is just a tool for pleasure and the achievement of social and economical extremist ambitions. He also aims to warn the woman: Although woman can use counter-violence in the face of man's violence, such as: self-defense against any oppression or injustice or rape, but she hasn’t any right to use violence against the chaste man dared and told her "not to forbidden love." جرت العادة أن نقرأ أبحاثاً متعددة تناقش موضوع عنف الرجل ضد المرأة، ولكننا نادرًا ما نقرأ عن عنف المرأة ضد الرجل، ومن هنا جاء الدافع وراء هذا البحث وهو إظهار أن المرأة مثل أي إنسان قد تتصرف بقسوة وعنف عندما تتعرض للمهانة أو الاضطهاد أو الجرح العاطفي من جانب الرجل، فتتحول إلى وحش يريد الانتقام بأي وسيلة. وسوف يتم نناقش هذا الموضوع خلال فحص عينة من الشخصيات النسائية الموجودة في مسرح يوريبيديس، والتي قامت مارست العنف ضد الرجل مثل: هيكابي ضد بوليمستور، ميديا ضد ياسون، فيدرا ضد هيبوليتوس. ويناقش هذا البحث الدوافع النفسية التي قد تدفع المرأة للتحول إلى وحش يرتكب عنف بدني أو معنوي ضد الرجل بالوسائل التي تتقنها وهي جاذبية أنوثتها ونعومة كلماتها وحرفيتها في استغلال نقاط ضعف الرجل الذي تتعامل معه. قد يهدف يوريبيديس، في مسرحياته، إلى توصيل رسالة تحذير أخلاقية إلى كل رجل يستغل ضعف المرأة وأنوثتها، ويعتقد أنها وسيلة سهلة للمتعة فقط أو أداة لتحقيق طموحاته المتطرفة الاجتماعية والمادية. ويهدف أيضًا إلى تحذير المرأة: فمن حق المرأة استخدام العنف المضاد في مواجهة عنف الرجل، دفاعًا عن النفس ضد أي قهر أو ظلم أو اغتصاب، ولكن ليس لها الحق في استخدام العنف ضد رجل عفيف تجرأ وقال لها "لا للحب المحرم".
