A Checklist of the Egyptian Museum's Unpublished Greek Papyri
Gad, Dr. Usama Ali;
Abstract
The present checklist was developed in the first instance to be used by the team of the International Seminar of Unpublished Papyri in the Egyptian Museum.4 The scholars whose names appear in this checklist were editing unpublished papyri from the Egyptian Museum, mostly from the C(atalogue) G(énéral) but some from the S(pecial) R(egister), before the start of the International Seminar. Most of them are M.A. or Ph.D. students of Papyrology at Ain Shams University who had permission from the respective authority to publish these pieces in their dissertations. Because of many factors, that are beyond the scope of this checklist, those students publish only a few numbers (ranging from 10-15 in most cases) to get their respective degrees before official deadlines, with continuation of publication after getting the degrees in a series of articles. Almost all of their works appear in the Bulletin of Ain- shams University Center of Papyrological Studies and Inscriptions (BAC) after a lag of two years or even more It is to be noted that this checklist does not repeat any of the information contained in the online concordance of published papyri.
