Abstract
This paper presents a multi-converter (modular) active power filter for high power nonlinear loads harmonic mitigation. The proposed system comprises of a Current Regulated Pulse Width Modulation inverter (CRPWM) modules that are utilizing a novel space vector modulation (SVM) based hysteresis current controller (HCC). The proposed methodology exploits the combined advantages of both HCC and SVM techniques. A set of space vectors including the zero vector, to reduce the number of switching, is determined from two sets of hysteresis comparators. One comparator set has larger hysteresis band than the other set. As a result, the proposed system significantly reduces the number of switching and, therefore, increases the efficiency of the power electronics modules.
