Late Period stela of Hor at the British Museum
Ahmed, Bassem;
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research deals with the stela of Hor, which is now preserved in the British Museum in
London, which states in its records that the stela was found at Akhmim and it dates back to the
Ptolemaic period. However, the current study suggests, based on several pieces of evidence, that its
dates to the late period, and more specifically to the 25th or 26th Dynasty. The study also shows
that the place of finding it was Abydos, not Akhmim, depending on Monroe's study of such stelae. In
addition to re-dating the stela and its founding place, the current research also provides a stylistic
study of this stela and linguistic commentaries on its texts
