STUDY OF THE TOXICITY OF ACYCLOVIR iN ALBINO RATS
SHERE-N MOHAMED SOBHEY EL.-KHOLEY;
Abstract
This study was carried out on the toxic potentialities of the
antiviral agent acyclovir (ACV). ACV is a mucleoside analog
that inhibits viral DNA synthesis without harming host cells,
and has demonstrated significant antiviral activity against her
pes viruses especially herpes simplex virus (HSV) and varicella
zoster virus (VZV) in both immunocompromised and normal
hosts. Its activity against cytomegalovirus (CMV) in vitro is
variable.
