Abstract
Adjustable-Speed Drives are widely used in modern industrial processes. However, they are often susceptible to the electric power disturbances that sometimes take place in the grid especially voltage sags. This might lead the adjustable-speed drives to trip which causes sever financial losses.
Voltage sags are the most frequent disturbances. Different reasons lead to voltage sags, They can be due to fault conditions, large motors startups, energizing of large transformers, or connecting large loads to the grid in an area close to the adjustable-speed drives or even at the same plant.
