CONTRACTOR'S RISKS IN LUMP-SUM DESIGN/BUILD CONTRACTS

MOHAMED YEHLA HELMI RAGAB;

Abstract

From the Unstructured Interview with the respondents it is found that Lump-Sum Dc.signii3uild Contracts are the most favorable contracts to the owner, particularly in public sector, due to tilt: decrease in the amount of risks allocated to the owner, shortened project delivery time and single point of responsibility for both design and construction. in this type of con.traels the Contractor (1)esign 1 Builder) is facing many risks and re6porisibilir..ies that are not present traditional contracts (Design/Bid/Build). Those risks should be taken into account during the Tendering Stage, the Design Stage, the Construction Stage, and the Commissioning Stage.
