INTERACTION BETWEEN THE FOUNDATION OF MULTI-UNDERGROUND STORIES STRUCTURES AND THE UTILIZED EXCAVATION SUPPORT SYSTEM

Abstract

Deep braced excavation causes heave for the bottom of excavation due to the displaced soil above it. Previous researches have not shown the impact of deep braced excavation characteristics on heave value, so more research is needed to fill this gap. Furthermore, previous research has not shown the effect of heave on the modulus of subgrade reaction value required in multi-basement structure foundation design.(Aboelela, Ebid and Fayed, 2021)
The thesis consists of seven chapters
Chapter (1) is the introduction to this research; it discusses the importance, the scope, and the main objectives of the research.
Chapter (2) is a literature review for the previous related studies. It describes different methods to determine the modulus of subgrade reaction Ks, braced excavation stiffness and heave of the bottom of the excavation
Chapter (3) describes the fundamentals of numerical modelling, and more precisely, finite element modelling. A brief description of the constitutive model used during this research is stated
Chapter (4) Brief description of the genetic programming (GP).
Chapter (5) describes the different case studies.
Chapter (6) Verification of the previous stated case studies, sensitivity analysis and predicting modulus of Ks using GP
Chapter (7) presents the summary and the conclusions of the r
