Value of Bicipital Tenotomy with Rotator Cuff Repair Procedures

Mahmoud Mohamed Mohamed Shalapy;

Abstract

Biceps long head (LHB) tendon pathologies are common causes of shoulder pain . These pathologies frequently accompany rotator cuff tears. Elser et al. showed that primary tendinitis of the LHB was rarely seen (5%), and most of these pathologies were associated with rotator cuff tears and impingement syndrome. (1)
Lesions of long head biceps tendon (BLHT) can be classified into inflammatory, instability, or traumatic.
Diagnosis of LHBT pathologies can be achieved by clinical examination and radiological investigations
Patients with LHBT pathologies complain of anterior shoulder pain and limited overhead activities and this affects their daily activities .
LHBT lesions occur due to trauma , impingement or with rotator cuff tears .
