THE PROPERTIES OF GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE BASED ON FLY ASH

Abdelrahman Mohamed Mahmoud Hussein;

Abstract

In this study, several trials have been made to successfully produce geopolymer with different base materials. The experimental program is designed to investigate the possibility of manufacturing geopolymer concrete using bi-product materials such as fly ash (FA) or meta-kaolin (MK) by; (i) Fined the best mix of geopolymer concrete and (ii) Study the properties of geopolymer concrete based on fly ash (FA). In the current experimental program, some variables were studied and tested on different geopolymer concrete mixes as the following:
1) Replacement of ordinary Portland cement with fly ash (FA) or meta-kaolin (MK).
2) Using many ratios of sodium hydroxide to sodium silicate (NaOH: Na2SiO3) to attain the optimum ratio.
The experimental study to research the impact of sodium hydroxide dosage and sodium silicate dosage on the compressive strength of concrete mortar specimens investigates and the best results is used to design suitable mixtures of geopolymer concrete mixtures.
