Abstract

oice is an important means of communication, it should be of normal quality, intensity and pitch, any disruption in the normally heard voice interferes with communication, social, psychological and emotional aspects. Many studies have studied voice problems in professional voice users (PVUS). A number of studies have focused on the teaching population as a major group in PVUS and their increased risk for voice disorders and showed that the prevalence of vocal dysfunction was significantly higher in teachers than in other PVUS but only few ones have highlighted voice disorders in non-professional voice users (NPVUS) especially housewives although their continuous use of voice and its vital role in communication with their children without any voice rest or absenteeism and the importance of voice in their daily activities.
Communication is vital for humans especially with children as communication is mandatory not only for their language development but also in shaping their personality and cognitive abilities and so, any disruption in the voice of their care givers especially the housewives can have a great effect not only on the child but also for the mother as voice disruption leads to anxiety to the mother as she fails to do her daily activities and care about her children and consequently this anxiety and psychological tension could play an important role in the development and aggravation of dysphonia.
