Factor VIII Level in The Potential Female Carrier mothers and its Impact on Joint Health

Abstract


cross sectional study was conducted on 40 mothers of patients with hemophilia A.
They were recruited from the regular attendants of the Pediatric Hematology Clinic, Pediatric Hospital, Ain Shams University Children’s Hospital during the period from September 2020 to September 2021.
Revision of history related to pain and limitation of joint movement was done ,together with bleeding manifestations.
Measurement of 17 movements of the six major joints (bilateral hips, knees, ankles, elbows) was performed at the physical medicine Clinic, Ain Shams University Hospital, by a senior rheumatology physician using the goniometry technique.
Factor VIII level was done by one stage assay and MRI of joints with main symptoms were performed.
Our results showed that regarding number of bleeding attacks, one attack present in 16 (40.0%) patients and two or more bleeding symptoms in 13 (32.5%) patients.
