Influence of Implant Position on Occlusal Distribution in Implant-Assisted Distal Extension Removable Partial Dentures using T-Scan system
Al-Insan Ismail Mohammed;
Abstract
This study was carried out to assess and compare the effect of implant position on occlusal load distribution in implant-assisted distal extension removable partial dentures. Computer guided occlusal adjustment and analysis was performed using the T- scan device.
Twenty four patients exhibiting mandibular bilateral distal extension edentulous area (Kennedy class I) were precisely selected to participate in this study. The selected patients were divided into three equal groups:-
Group (I):
For group I patients, a conventional removable partial denture was constructed restoring distal extension area.
Group (II):
For group II patients, an implant-assisted distal extension removable partial denture was constructed with implant placed in first molar position.
Group (III):
For group III patients, an implant-assisted distal extension removable partial denture was constructed with implant placed in second molar position.
In an attempt to carry out a fair comparison and to assess and compare the effect of implant position on occlusal load distribution in implant-assisted distal extension removable partial denture, all patients received partial overdentures that were constructed following the same procedures, using the same materials and having the same design.
