The effectiveness of a dynamic assessment based program in developing the technical writing tasks in English for industrial technical secondary school students

Abstract


This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of a dynamic assessment based program in developing the technical writing tasks in English for industrial technical secondary school students. The study used a one group treatment, in which twenty Egyptian industrial technical secondary school students enrolled in Iron and Steel Production Technicians specialization, El Sewedy Technical Academy in year 2021/2022 were randomly nominated. To test the hypotheses, four instruments were administered on different intervals during one-month treatment utilizing descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze data quantitatively and qualitatively. Instruments included technical writing tasks skills questionnaire, pre/ post EFL technical writing tasks test, rubrics and participants’ satisfaction questionnaire. Findings revealed that teaching through dynamic assessment has an effectiveness in developing the technical writing tasks in English for industrial technical secondary school students as indicated by their posttest scores. Moreover, students showed significant satisfaction with the proposed program.
