FULL WAVE-HYDRODYNAMIC FDTD SOLVER FOR A NOVEL DOUBLE GRATING THZ DETECTOR

Abstract
In this thesis, a novel 2D asymmetric double grating gate plasmonic THz detector is introduced. Unlike the previously published 1D THz detectors, in which the responsivity is maximum when the polarization of the incident wave is parallel to the direction of the grating periodicity, and vanishes when the polarization of the incident wave is in the normal direction. The responsivity of the introduced 2D THz detector does not vanish in any direction. The introduced 2D THz detector is modeled by using the full wave-hydrodynamic FDTD solver.
