Ali Mohamed Ali AbdElaal;

Abstract

urgical site infections (SSIs) are the most common type of healthcare-associated infectionsin the developing world. Their incidencesin low- and middle-income countries may be approximately up to 4 times higher than in high-income countries.Superficial incisions are found to be more frequent to have infection, followed next in frequency by deep incisions while organ/space infections were the least in frequency.SSIs are responsible for a prolonged hospital stay, long-term disability, and additional financial burden.They significantly reduce the potential benefits of surgical interventions
