Abstract
erinatal asphyxia-induced brain injury is one of the most common causes of mortality and long term neurologic morbidity (cerebral palsy, mental retardation, learning disability and epilepsy) in neonates.
Therapeutic hypothermia has become widely accepted as the standard of care for the treatment of term and near-term newborn babies with moderate to severe HIE who meet inclusion criteria with a reduction in mortality and improvement of neurodevelopmental outcome.
