Job Stress and Self-Efficacy among Pediatric Staff Nurses

Abstract


Background: Stress is one of the main factors affecting one's efficiency as well as staff health and quality of nursing services. Aim: This study was aimed to assess job stress and self- efficacy among pediatric staff nurses. Design: A descriptive design was used in this study. Setting: The study was conducted in pediatric department at A shmon General Hospitals, El Menoufia governorate. Sample: A convenience sample of (120) pediatric nurses was participate from the above mentioned settings. Data collection tools: Tools used for data collection were 1): Socio - demographic data sheet, 2) Nursing job Stress Scale (NJSS), 3) General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE). Results: The main results showed that more than two third of pediatric nurses understudy had moderate levels as regards total levels of job stress .Also, the result indicated that majority of pediatric nurses’ understudy had low levels of self-efficacy. Furthermore, there was a there were a statistical significance correlation between job stress and self-efficacy among pediatric staff nurses under study. Conclusion: There was a negative correlation between job stress and self-efficacy among pediatric staff nurses under study. Recommendations: Establish Training programs and courses on self -efficacy would help the pediatric nurse to enhance their stress bearing capacity and also improve their job performance.
