Abstract
ABSTRACT
With the unprecedented growth in size and complexity of communication networks, the development of intelligent and adaptive approaches to network management (including such functions as routing, congestion control, etc.) have assumed considerable theoretical as well as practical significance, besides use of the Internet and the World Wide Web has become widespread in recent years and agent technology has proliferated at an equally rapid rate, Therefore the importance of mobile computing and mobile agent paradigm have been increasing .
There are two commonly accepted classes of agents in this thesis: Intelligent Agents and Mobile Agents. Intelligent agents are typically static entities with much built-in intelligence to perform specific tasks. Mobile agents, on the other hand, are dynamic and highly automated entities combining codes and data instead of static data only. It can automatically migrate from site to site-entire network, performing a number of tasks locally at each host along the way.
The advantages of using mobile agents technology in data communication instead of client-server architecture include:
• Connections must only be up for receiving and
sending the agents; this leads to reduction of communication costs, and overcome the disconnected problems in the computing environments.
