Efficacy of Holmium Laser Urethrotomy in Combination with Intralesional Steroids in the Treatment of Bulbar Urethral Stricture

Abstract

rethral stricture can occur due to infection, trauma, iatrogenic or idiopathic causes. internal urethrotomy is a feasible modality of treatment for short segment bulbar urethral strictures. recurrence is an important problem after urethrotomy. This study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of local steroids as applied with the IU by holmium laser procedure in reducing the recurrence of strictures after urethrotomy. A 124 male patients with bulbar urethral strictures were divided into two groups. Our study revealed that holmium laser internal urethrotomy for bulbar urethral stricture with intrauretheral injection of steroids decrease the rate of urethral stricture recurrence.
