Synthesis and characterization of some new complexes and inorganic pigments and studying their applications in inks and paints industry

Abstract

Novel pigments were prepared during the reaction of Lithol Rubine (LR) pigment with Cu (II), Mn (II), Co (II) and Zn (II) salts in ethanolic solutions by a simple conventional method to be applied in printing ink industry and to be alternatives for the original commercial expensive pigments which already exist in the markets.
The obtained novel pigments were identified and characterized using different analytical and spectroscopic techniques, such as UV–Vis spectra, FT-IR, elemental analyses, mmagnetic measurements and 1H NMR. Physical properties of these pigments were done using "American Standard Testing methods (ASTM)". After evaluation, the pigments were applied in printing ink industry. The results were satisfied and comparable to the commercial inks.
Zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) nanoparticles have been prepared by sol-gel method and then were characterized by using XRD, TEM, DRS and SEM/EDX and then were applied in printing ink and paints industry as anti-corrosive paint.
