Myocardial Perfusion Imaging and Functional Assessment for The Efficacy of Rehabilitation Program Post Myocardial Infarction

Amany Raafat Mohamad;

Abstract

This study is an attempt to evaluate the efficacy of a rehabilitation program for patients post uncomplicated AMI.
• To achieve this goal, we studied 16 pts admitted to the critical care department (Cairo University), with first attack of uncomplicated AMI.
• Fifteen patients were male (93.8%), one was female (6.2%) with a mean age of (52.118.0) years, myocardial infarction was anterior in
9 patients (56.3%) & inferior in 7 patients (43.7%).
• At the beginning of the study, within the first 2 weeks after the attack of myocardial infarction (recovery stage), all patients were subjected to: full history taking, physical examination, standard 12- leads ECG, laboratory investigations including lipid profile, cardiac enzymes estimation. Then all patients involved in myocardial perfusion imaging with exercise testing to evaluate the
\ initial cardiac function before any intervention in the rehabilitation
program.
• After this initial evaluation, all patients were directly enrolled in cardiac rehabilitation program including symptom limited treadmill exercise training for 10 weeks with a frequency of 3 sessions a week.
• Following termination of the program, all patients were re• evaluated 24 hours after their last session to avoid the acute effect of exercise.
