Studies On Tissue Culture Vaccine Prepared From Local Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV)

Abstract

A local isolate of infectious bursal disease virus passaged for 40 times in commercial embryonated chicken eggs was used in this study in a trial for preparation of tissue culture vaccine against IBD V from the local isolate dominant strain in Egypt. The EID,» of the virus reached 10/0.1ml after 3 successive passages on SPF embryonated chicken eggs. k The BGM-70 cell lines were used for isolation of the virus and the CPE was detected at 8th and 7th days post inoculation at passages 5th and 6th, respectively. k The Vero cells were successfully support the growth of the virus and 1 produce specific CPE for the virus at 48 hours post inoculation with a maximum virus titre of 10 TCID/ml. k The tissue culture passaged IBDV on Vero cells was identified by three methods: It gave positive result in agar gel precipitation test. It gave positive fluorescent emission when stained with indirect immunofluorescent test. Produce peculiar CPE on Vero cells specific for IBDV.
