SOME BACTERIOLOGICAL AND MYCOPLASMALOGICAL STUDIES ON RESPIRATORY TRACTINFECTION IN BUFFALOES AND COWS
Aliaa Abd EL-Rahman Mohamed;
Abstract
This study was conducted mainly on 460 animals and results obtained showed that a total of 118 buffaloes and 342 cows were under investigation including 170 animals were apparently normal (128 cows and 42 buffaloes) while the remaining 290 animals conditionally diseased included 214 cows and 76 buffaloes. Concerning diseased animals 117 cows were positive with the percentage of (54.67), out of
76 diseased buffaloes 49 were positive with the percentage of (64.47),166 out of 290 diseased animals were positive with the percentage of (57.24) while only 47 out of 170 apparently healthy animals were positive with the percentage of 27 .64.A total of 838
Specimens collected including 195 specimens (80 lung from apparently normal animals with 18. 75% is a positive while 115 lungs from disease animals with 81.25% is positive). 189 tracheal swabs (76 from apparently normal animals give 11.8% positive cases and 113 from diseased animals with 76.99 positive cases) .265 samples of nasal swabs including 88 from apparently normal animals with 19.3% positive cases and 177 samples from diseased animals with 85.3% positive cases. 189 specimens of lymph nodes including 74 specimens from apparently normal animals with 10.8% positive cases and 115 specimens from diseased animals with 66.96%. Bacteria were isolated from 195 diseased animals and 36 apparently healthy animals with the percentage of 84.42 % and 15.58% respectively, while mycoplasma were isolated from 152 diseased animals and 13 apparently healthy animals with the percentage of 96.2% and 7.9 % respectively. Concerning mixed infection .
